Violence against women is a serious obstacle to achieving gender equality as it curtails women’s mobility and limits their right to participate fully and freely as citizens in their communities. Violence strikes women from all kinds of backgrounds and of all ages. It can happen at work, on the street, or at home. Some of the types of violence observed in communities being covered by CAMS are:
- Dating violence
- Domestic and intimate partner violence
- Emotional abuse
- Human trafficking
- Same-sex relationship violence
- Sexual assault and abuse
- Stalking
- Violence against women at work
- Violence against women with disabilities
Types of crisis response:
The following common types of crisis response activities have been adopted by CAMS:
- Advocacy, including networking with other rights groups and sensitizing police and other authorities
- Building relationships with the media to improve public perception about trafficking and child, women issues.
