In 2001, a bunch of passionate art and theatre enthusiasts of S.N.School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad started a social impact initiative to promote art and theatre among the needy and marginalised children in the Andhra and Telangana regions. The team, under the guidance of named Professors from UoH, undertook several social activities and welfare initiatives that used Art as a medium to inspire change.
After 5 years of relentless service to the field of Arts and Theatres, the team decided to take the intuitive to the next milestone. On 23 rd January 2006 a society by name ‘Center for Arts and Media Studies’ was registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registrations Act., 2001 (Act) No. 35 of 2001 with the Office of the Registrar of Societies, Ranga Reddy District bearing No 103 of 2006. The rest is history.
Cut to today, CAMSS is a big, fat family of theatre research scholars, performing arts students, trainers and other professionals besides the patronage of University of Hyderabad academicians. The team at CAMSS constantly works towards multiplying the community of artists, with special emphasis on the underprivileged.
CAMSS has trained several artists from all walks of life and helped them exhibit their talent on regional and National platforms like Nandi Theatre festival organized by the government of A.P Rangaprabhat of Kerala and Assam state festival etc.
The team has also undertaken several social projects and used Art and Theatre to inspire and implement change. The talented team of seasoned art professionals of CAMSS have extensively worked in slum areas like Kavadiguda, Muggubasti, Parthunbasti, Tandabasti, Rasulpura, Hamalbasti, Chachanagar and other communities in and around Hyderabad.
